Kathy Giuffre was born and raised in the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas where her family goes back at least five generations. She received a B.A. from Harvard University and a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is Professor Emerita of Sociology at Colorado College in the United States. She lives in Pietrasanta, Italy.
